The remains of the Tomboy Mine and Savage Basin Camp are located 3000 feet above Telluride. The Tomboy peaked between 1894 and 1897, producing prodigious quantities of gold, and then was sold for $2,000,000—an unheard-of amount at the time. The site is mostly ruins now. It is located directly below Imogene Pass. The opening photo and virtual tour show the tram house for the Smuggler-Union Mine, located directly below the Tomboy; the tram was powered by the hydro-electric plant shown in the Telluride opening photo. The photos below give an idea of the condition of the few remaining structures at the site.
